                                                Rey is an upcoming Telugu Musical film directed and produced by YVS Chowdary on his Bommarillu films banner. The film marks the debut of Sai Dharam Tej and Saiyami Kher while Shraddha Das & Farhad Shahnawaz played an equally important role. Chakricomposed the Music while Gunasekharan handled the Cinematography. This film was YVS Chowdary’s 9th film as director and 6th as producer.

Basic Plot: 

Rey is a musical war between two groups set in caribbean backdrop, Rock, an Indian settled in West Indies tries to compete with local gangs there to be recognised as best musical band in the world. Who wins at the last is rest of the plot.

Performances: 

Technical debut film of SDT, he did well in dances and fights but was uncomfortable in dialogue delivery, he will satisfy masses though. Saiyami Kher had no role in the film except for the love track, her looks were also not so great in the movie, Shraddha Has had irritated at times. Ali, Venu Madhav, Raghu Babu tried to bring in some laughs but failed most of the time.

Technicians:

Music scored by Chakri was main asset for the movie, songs provided good scope for SDT to present his dancing skills, Editing was very poor, Camera work was not upto the mark, dialogues were okay, production values were also okay.

Director and His Film:

YVS Chowdary has been facing lot of problems to score a hit at the box office, he designed Rey to be stylish musical flick but failed to capture the same, he tried to portray loudness of all actors which irritated at times, there were many uneven jumps in the film and songs were badly placed, it seems that director had completely lost grip over the subject and made film bitwise. He should have taken care of lot of things in the movie, he tried to repeat a Devdas here but this time he spoiled the play with some unnecessary action sequences, West Indies backdrop etc. Totally a poor direction from YVS. He cleverly tried to manage Mega fans with Chiranjeevi’s visuals and Pawan Kalyan’s references, but icing can be done only on a proper cake.
